次の英文を読んで、後の設問に答えなさい。Many people in Western countries believe that opening an umbrella inside the house is bad luck. For many, many years, most people have believed in the natural order* of the world. Historians think that this was the start of this belief.
An umbrella is to protect our bodies from the rain or the sun. It stops the natural elements, such as the rain and sun, from hurting us. Therefore, to open an umbrella inside the house where the roof is already protecting us is breaking the natural order of things.
In the past, many people feared too many things covering their heads. People also used to believe that there were good forces surrounding them. However, opening an umbrella blocked the good forces that protected people. Therefore, opening an umbrella inside the house created a barrier that good forces could not pass through.
In recent times, more practical ideas supported the old belief. If someone opens an umbrella inside, he or she cannot see clearly. And it can cause breakage, damage and injury. Even the smartest person would therefore think it is not a good idea to open an umbrella indoors.
